Businesses are increasingly using external contractors to provide specialist services as part of cost effectiveness regimes. However, careful appraisal and allocation of health, safety and environment responsibilities is required between the client and contractor to ensure legal compliance.
In recent court cases, the lack of management control systems has been quoted as the prime cause of failure by both parties - prosecutions on both companies and individuals has resulted.
