The risk assessment process is an essential part of successful health and safety management.
The background
The control of risk is necessary to secure compliance with the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act and other relevant statutory provisions. The Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations and other recent legislation requires employers to carry risk assessments and to record these assessments in writing.
There are 5 basic stages in establishing workplace precautions:
Hazard identification - identifying hazards which could cause harm
Risk assessment - assessing the risk which may arise from hazards
Risk control - deciding on suitable measures to eliminate or control risk
Implementation - putting the safety control measures in place
Monitor & review - ensuring the safety control measures are effective
The problem
People claim that health & safety is simply common sense and they have a point, yet every year thousands of organisations are unable to demonstrate their ability to effectively manage their risks to an acceptable level.
The solution
Our health & safety advisers have the ability and expertise to apply their knowledge and experience to your organisation.
We can help you by:
Training and assisting managers and supervisors to carry out in house assessments.
Carrying out assessments on behalf of employers, leaving a set of assessments which can be readily updated “in house” in future years as and when things change.
Scrutinising and updating existing assessments in line with the latest legislation.
Assisting you in the implementation of your safety control measures.
